IN-THE-MONEY

1 February 2018 By PDSNET

An investment term used to describe a situation in which a particular security can be sold for a profit. This is calculated by taking into consideration the purchase price of the security, the dealing costs of the transaction and the current security price. We believe that you are only really in-the-money once your stop-loss level has reached the price at which you purchased your investment. This term is also commonly used in the derivatives market.
