A financial institution, owned by Sanlam, providing (passive opposed to managed) investment products including exchange traded funds (ETF) and unit trusts. Satrix produced South Africa's first ETF in 2000. They also produce customized products to meet specific institutional needs. They offer a number of Tax-Free Savings Accounts (TFSA) which investors can then place in the various exchange traded funds (ETF's) run by Satrix. On 19th March 2021 Satrix announced the launch of 6 new ETF's to take advantage of the growing market for passive investments which cost less than those which are actively managed. The new ETF's will offer exposure to global markets in health care, smart cities, property and specific countries like India. By March 2021 the Satrix had over R130bn under management about 70% of which was from institutional investors.
